Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival 2015

Running from the 10th-31st of October, SMHAFF hosts a diverse array of film, music, theatre, literature, exhibitions, and other arts events that engage with mental health and illness. Strikingly, female directors make up half of its film programme, a number that shouldn’t be nearly as surprising as it is. I’ve been writing features and reviews of some of this year’s events, exploring gender, dance, imprisonment, and darkly comic surrealism.
